2024 Legal Tech Map

Published in early 2024, this was the first edition of TILT Legal's annual Legal Tech Map. It captured the Australian legal technology landscape at a point when AI-powered tools were beginning to enter the market but hadn't yet reshaped the category structure. The map remains a useful reference point for understanding how quickly the market has moved.

What's inside

The 2024 Legal Tech Map organises the market into four broad domains:

• Core operations — Practice management, billing, document management, and the foundational systems most firms rely on.
• Contract lifecycle — Document automation, CLM platforms, and review tools available at the time.
• Specialised workflows — Litigation, compliance, entity management, eDiscovery, and other practice-specific tools.
• Automation and emerging tech — Early-stage AI tools, workflow automation, and no-code platforms that were gaining traction.

The map provides a snapshot of the vendors operating in each space as of early 2024.

How this compares to the 2025 edition

The legal technology market shifted significantly between the 2024 and 2025 editions. The 2025 map includes over 200 tools — a substantial expansion — and reflects the rapid growth of AI-native products, the consolidation of some categories, and the emergence of entirely new ones. If you're using this map for current planning, we recommend the 2025 edition for the most up-to-date picture.
