Tilt Base connects to Claude as a custom connector. Once it is added and you have connected your account, Claude can find and use your organisation's skills wherever you use Claude with that account, including Claude Cowork.
## Add Tilt Base to Claude
How you add Tilt Base depends on your Claude plan.
<details>
<summary>Team or Enterprise plan</summary>
	An Owner adds Tilt Base once for the whole organisation. Members then connect their own accounts.
	1. Open **Organization settings › Connectors**.
	2. Select **Add**, then **Custom**. If Claude asks for the connector type, choose **Web**.
	3. Name the connector **Tilt Base** and enter the connection address `https://base.tilt.legal/mcp`.
	4. If Claude asks how people sign in, choose **Sign in now**. If it asks for an **OAuth client**, choose **Use Claude's published identity**. Leave any client ID and secret empty.
	5. Select **Add**. Tilt Base now appears for members under **Customize › Connectors**, labelled **Custom**.
</details>
<details>
<summary>Free, Pro or Max plan</summary>
	Each person adds Tilt Base to their own account. On the Free plan you can add one custom connector.
	1. Open **Customize › Connectors**.
	2. Select **Add custom connector**.
</details>
<callout icon="ℹ️">
	**Use Claude's published identity.** Tilt Base recognises Claude by the identity Claude publishes, so the other OAuth client options cannot connect. A connector's sign-in settings cannot be changed after it is added: if another option was chosen, remove the connector and add it again.
</callout>
## Connect your account
Each member does this once, after Tilt Base has been added.
1. Open **Customize › Connectors** and find **Tilt Base**.
2. Select **Connect**. The Tilt Base sign-in page opens.
3. Sign in with the Microsoft account or email address your organisation set up for you, choose your organisation if you belong to more than one, and select **Allow**.
Tilt Base then shows as connected. [Connecting Tilt Base](https://tilt.legal/docs/tilt-base/connecting-tilt-base) explains signing in in more detail.
## Use Tilt Base in a conversation
- Ask for the work as you normally would, or name Tilt Base, for example "Which Tilt Base skills can I use?"
- To turn Tilt Base on or off for one conversation, select **+** in the message box, then **Connectors**, and use the switch beside Tilt Base.
- Claude may ask before it uses a Tilt Base tool. Allow it to continue, or choose **Always allow** for Tilt Base.
- For work that produces Word documents or runs scripts, use Claude Cowork.
## Add your organisation's plugin (optional)
On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner can also add your organisation's plugin, so Claude starts each skill on its own when a request matches it. The plugin holds only a launcher for each skill; the skill itself still comes from Tilt Base.
1. In Tilt Base, open **Plugins**, select **Download** on the plugin and choose **Claude**.
2. In Claude, open **Organization settings › Plugins & skills**.
3. Select **Add › Upload a plugin** and choose the ZIP.
4. Set the plugin's availability for members.
<callout icon="ℹ️">
	**The plugin does not add the connection.** Add Tilt Base under **Organization settings › Connectors** as well, as described above.
</callout>
For a newer version, open the plugin in Claude and select **Upload new version**. You need to upload again only when your organisation adds, removes or renames skills; every other change reaches members through Tilt Base as soon as it is published.
## Troubleshooting
- **Members cannot see Tilt Base.** On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner must first add it under **Organization settings › Connectors**. Members find it under **Customize › Connectors**, labelled **Custom**.
- **Claude reports that authorization with the MCP server failed.** The connector was probably added with a different OAuth client option. Remove it and add it again, choosing **Use Claude's published identity**.
- **Claude does not use Tilt Base.** Check that Tilt Base is switched on for the conversation under **+ › Connectors**, or name Tilt Base in your request.
- **Anything else.** See [If you cannot connect](https://tilt.legal/docs/tilt-base/connecting-tilt-base).
