Mobius transcribes and summarises recorded interviews. The quality of the recording directly affects the quality of every downstream output, so a few practical habits are worth establishing before you sit down to interview.
## Use Microsoft Teams as the default platform
Teams is the recommended recording path. It records reliably, stores the recording in the cloud, and produces a clean audio track that can be exported and uploaded into Mobius. Other platforms (such as Zoom or Google Meet) can work, but Teams is the path we test against.
## Audio quality matters more than video
Mobius works from audio. A quiet room, minimal background noise, and a decent microphone make a noticeable difference to transcription accuracy. Where possible, have each participant on their own device with a headset rather than relying on a shared room mic. Have participants as close to the mic as possible. When possible, avoid recording in large, echoing rooms.
## Help the AI distinguish speakers
At the start of the interview, ask each participant to introduce themselves by name and role. Encourage participants to speak one at a time and avoid talking over each other. The AI model uses voice characteristics and these spoken cues to attribute statements correctly. The cleaner the input, the better the result.
## What to do with the recording afterwards
Export the audio track from Teams (or your recording platform) as an audio file and upload it to the matter file space in Mobius. Mobius does not accept video files — if you have an MP4 from Teams, you will need to export the audio separately before uploading.
If you already have a written transcript, and you would prefer to use that, you can upload it directly and skip the transcription step.
