A matter is the top-level container for an investigation in Mobius. It holds the file space, evidence matrix, and every workflow output for the investigation, and is the first thing you create when starting work on a new matter.
## Creating the matter
From the Mobius dashboard, select **New matter **(top right corner), give it a name, and add a description. The name and description are visible to anyone with access to the matter, so use a convention that makes sense for your team. Once created, the matter becomes the workspace for everything that follows.
## Uploading initial context documents
Use the file space to upload the documents you have at hand — the complaint, relevant policies, prior correspondence, organisational charts, and anything else that gives the AI context for the investigation. The platform can proceed with as little as one context document, so you do not need a full evidence pack to begin.
## Setting matter-level keywords
Add the names, places, and matter-specific terms that you expect to come across in interviews and documents. Keywords flow through to transcription and every AI workflow in the matter, which materially improves accuracy on proper nouns. You can add or amend keywords at any time through the Configure button on the top right corner of the overview page.
